Octave of Pentecost

Pentecost is the free Gift that Jesus promised and fulfills by sending It to those who are gathered together with the Blessed Mother.

Saint Basil continues:

“From this communion with the Spirit comes the foreknowledge of the future, the penetration of mysteries, the understanding of the hidden, the distribution of gifts, supernatural life, fellowship with the angels; from here comes that joy that will never end, from here the permanence in divine life, from here being like God, from here, finally, the most sublime thing that can be desired: that man becomes like God.”

And we, during this Octave of Pentecost, pray: (Extracted from the Akathist).

Come, Your Holy Spirit, Lord of the heavenly powers.
Open our minds and purify us, for we are unable to praise Your Holy Name.
And let us implore You: Alleluia!
Spirit, transforming power

Spirit, creative wisdom
Spirit, firmness of the people in their vocation
Spirit, who guides everything towards God.
Spirit, sweet enthusiasm of the Angels.
Spirit, strong salvation of the parents

Spirit, wonderful honor of the patriarchs.
Spirit, glorious support of the rulers.
Spirit, intelligence and wisdom

Spirit, counsel and strength of David
Spirit, strength of those who lived in Israel
Spirit, strength and power of Yahweh.

Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Thank You for sending us Your Holy Spirit!

I pray for you and commend myself to your prayers.
