Mother Sofronia: A testimony of holiness and dedication

We invite you to discover the profound legacy of Mother Sofronia Serafina Erdelyi, co-founder of the Basilian Sisters in Argentina, through this moving documentary video. Born in 1884, Mother Sofronia arrived in Argentina in 1939 to accompany the Ukrainian immigrants in Apóstoles, Misiones. Those who knew her bear witness to her extreme humility, her fervent life of prayer, and her heroic charity towards those most in need.

As a woman of prayer imbued with Eastern Christian spirituality, she gave a constant witness to the Gospel message. She professed the evangelical counsels in a monastic community based on the teachings of Saint Basil, always striving to be a praying, healing, and life-giving presence. Through the voices of the sisters who shared her pastoral mission, the video reveals her spiritual profile, her sacrifices, and the numerous graces and healings attributed to her intercession, such as the striking case of her great-nephew’s healing from leukemia.

Mother Sofronia taught by her own example that life should be at the service of God and the Church. At the end of the video, you will find the official prayer to ask for graces through her intercession. We invite you to watch the video to be inspired by the life of this tireless educator and spiritual mother who reminds us that «the secret of holiness is love».
