Interview: Interecclesial Basilian Sisters

Q. What is the main mission of the Interecclesial Basilian Sisters?

A. The main mission of the Interecclesial Basilian Sisters is, from the teachings of Saint Basil, to serve the Catholic Church in the churches that compose it, especially the Byzantine and Latin. They seek to help everyone encounter the Word of God, respond with sensitivity to the needs of the Church and the people of this time from the teachings of Saint Basil, Theology, Liturgy, and the Magisterium of the Church. Building bridges through evangelical hospitality, they promote unity in diversity by highlighting the signs of grace that flow from God. They are a praying, healing and life-giving presence.

Q. What motivates the Interecclesial Basilian Sisters?

A. Interecclesiality implies discerning the current moment. It is to be “going forth” and “living the synodal spirit” in order to perceive and share how God works in His Church: One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic, Roman. It is also the desire to share the Basilian Spirituality which has much to contribute to the whole Church from the teachings of Saint Basil, Father and Doctor of the Church. This is an Ad-Experimentum path and an ideal that is part of the Sisters of the Order of Saint Basil and of “Christ the King” Basilian Province of Argentina.

Q. What message would you like to convey to young people and to people who are seeking to give meaning to their lives?

A. That they be encouraged to listen to God and discover their vocation to put their gifts at the service of the Church and of others. Being Interecclesial Basilians is a challenge for brave people who want to take the Word and the teachings of Saint Basil, and, with their gifts, contribute something valuable to the construction of a more fraternal and united Church and world.
